Innovation Award for Quantum Applications
Exploring Quantum Calculations for Drug Discovery
Gothenburg, Sweden – Anyo Labs has emerged victorious in a prestigious innovation competition, thanks to their pioneering project, "Latent Space Sampling for Drug Discovery using AI-Quantum Hybrid Methods." This innovative approach leverages the power of quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize the drug discovery process.
Technology Idea Overview
Anyo Labs' novel method addresses the challenge of sampling vast chemical spaces in drug discovery. Unlike traditional techniques that focus on dimensionality reduction, this approach expands latent space dimensions. By integrating quantum algorithms, the decoding process is guided towards novel chemical structures, offering a transformative way to explore chemical space. The core of this innovation is MolAI, an AI-quantum hybrid tool developed by Anyo Labs. MolAI utilizes a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)-based autoencoder to generate a latent space for molecular design. Quantum algorithms efficiently sample this hyperdimensional space, tackling challenges like hyper-dimensionality and non-linearity. The decoded drug candidates are then subjected to downstream filtering and scoring based on their predicted affinity, selectivity, and pharmacokinetic (PK) properties. This method surpasses classical techniques, providing a more effective and transformative way to explore chemical space.
Award-Winning Innovation in Quantum Technology
Anyo Labs’ commitment to this transformative approach was recognized at the Swedish Quantum Innovation Competition, organized by the Quantum Sweden Innovation Platform (QSIP) at the GoWest investment forum in Gothenburg. Pitched by Dr. Jalil Mahdizadeh, Anyo Labs was one of five winners selected, securing a share of the SEK 1.5 million prize to further explore quantum-based solutions. The competition, funded by Vinnova, focused on quantum innovations addressing complex challenges, including drug discovery, where quantum technology can provide significant advantages over existing methods.
Looking Ahead
The QSIP award marks a significant milestone for Anyo Labs, providing both recognition and resources to advance its quantum aspects of its drug discovery platform. As the company continues to refine its models, the integration of quantum calculations and AI holds the promise of transforming precision medicine. By creating more accurate and ethical alternatives to traditional drug discovery methods, Anyo Labs is not only shaping the future of pharmaceuticals but also contributing to a healthier world.
